  K Factory Exhaust Videos!
Posted by: silascopathic_imp - 09-07-2013, 12:47 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (20)

It's about time right?! I have for you, videos of my exhaust with the stock baffle, upgraded baffle (what I run), and without baffle.

the upgraded baffle is about $100 and very worth it in my opinion. I love the K Factory exhaust because it has the ability to remove and change the baffle and it also has the nice easy bends like the japanese yoshi pipe.

  Tankbags?
Posted by: oldgoat01_imp - 09-06-2013, 10:50 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (9)

I'm happier with my H-B panniers than I thought I would be. They look nice enough and I've been surprised by the capacity. However, I've always had a tank bag as well as panniers. You just can't beat the utility and convenience of a tank bag. Once again you run into the aesthetic versus function issue. Some look like a large amorphous black canvas blob rising over the tank to a height of 3 feet (who needs wind protection). Others are slick aerodynamic plastic, graphite finish containers which make a great fashion statement but are able to hold nothing more than a phone. While I prefer smaller ones, I need something capable of holding a 16oz water bottle, wallet, phone and a few odds and ends, nothing more. So, oh great and all-knowing forum, tell me (better yet show me) what you are doing or cogitating for a tank bag?

  Update on Rim Runout
Posted by: CIP57_imp - 09-05-2013, 10:25 PM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (7)

I have attached a PDF of the finding by the DSM. He showed me a video From the technical Dept. in CA of a CB1100 ( asked them how many they went through to find this one) the rim was similar to mine and they felt the run out was within spec. I will file this in case of future development. Wanted to post this for member knowledge.

  Epiphany!
Posted by: oldgoat01_imp - 09-05-2013, 10:10 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (7)

As I've posted in an earlier thread, I'm trying to figure out how to convince my wife that a perfectly good exhaust needs to be replaced. I've gotten a number of good suggestions, particularly the hearing loss one. But none seemed to be a true winner. Like many of you I've been drooling over Ack's gold whitehouse gem and thinking "Damn, I'm having trouble with an exhaust how could I possibly sneak a new tank in"
Well then I see Ack has a posting in classifieds. He is selling his old tank. Tank looks fine, except for a couple of small dents in it. Hmm, I got to thinking. I redigitized the image, ran it through multiple filters when, imagine my surprise when I was able to discover the dents were an exact match for a 32oz Harbor Freight #189293 ball peen hammer! Big Grin

"What's that noise I hear coming from the garage?" "Nothing dear, Damn! my pipe is dented and won't work properly!" Big Grin

  Rear turn signals

Got the rear done today, not real happy with the signals, but they will do until I find something I like better. Also got to to paint those gray bars. I have the Lucas tail light also, but its not in the pic.

Hepco Becker Saddlebags, Racks, Russell Day Long, etc
Posted by: dennylee11_imp - 09-05-2013, 10:55 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (24)

Ya'll,

The CB has some new additions: Hepco Becker racks and bags, Russell Day Long Seat (very nice...) and a set of LED Turnsignals I wired in and mounted next to the license plate holder where I keep my registration and insurance information.

What you think?

Force Design air cleaner covers. Ordered from Samurider and received less than 3 days after they were shipped. He doesn't list them on his site, but if it's made in Japan, Takashi can deliver!

These are not cheap at 24,000 yen + 2,000 yen shipping but are incredibly well made and a marked improvement over the OEM parts. Installation is a snap. Pull the seat, unscrew the bolt holding the gas tank and raise the tank less than an inch. This will allow you to remove the clip at top of the cover.

With all this red going on I'm probably going to have to swap out my Puig Plus for a Chic Design Road Comet to complete the look. Dang! Hate when that happens. Big Grin

I'm curious, have you fully outfitted yourselves with good/proper riding gear too? Seems odd to see a custom bike being ridden by a rider with cheap gloves, helmet, etc. Biker

  Back on 2 wheels

Well, not back on my CB 11 ... But at least I was able to get out and ride today on my Yamaha Majesty 400 scooter. 207 miles. Felt so good! Banana

Dr doesn't know, but Mrs Ferret did. She was a little worried, but I told her I'd be careful. Not much different than sitting on the couch I figure... a couch with the wind blowing in your face. Big Grin
