The Unrideables - The Spaceman_imp - 05-31-2014
This is an outstanding documentary on the heyday of two-stroke Grand Prix motorcycle racing. Part 1 is "500 Bike Grand Prix.". Mamola, Lawson, Gardner, all the greats from the late '80's are covered. Part 2 is called "The Rainey Days" and covers the rivalry between Rainey and Schwantz.
Velocity repeats their shows regularly, so it should be easy to catch these. It took me back to my youth and going to Daytona back when it was THE race to win.
The only bad thing is they play a lot of '80's music. Man, was that some sorry cuss!

Just watched it. Great old racing scenes and interviews with the riders of that era.
Those two strokes were awesome.

I didn't realize Velocity was its own channel. On my teevee Speed was gone day and Velocity appeared in its place. Playing pretty much the same shows. Except no big races.

What a great documentary. Getting 160HP out of a 500cc bike is crazy.

What struk me were the crazy wobbles and riders getting way, way out of shape and recovering. It took a pair to ride those bikes back then.

I have 3 Cafe Racers set to record: Cafes and retro street bikes race on a quarter-mile drag strip, Roland Sands & Chevelle, and a KTM conversion.

I just saw part 2, high-sides all over. I love how they talk about the "Honda lane".
2 stroke bikes are just awesome.
Had a new RZ350 always wanted a 500.
Rainey about the 90's bike:
"Power wise, the bikes we rode then had 190 horsepower but the powerband was from 9000 to 12,000 rpm. So you had about 3000 rpm that you were riding that beast in. So when you come to a turn and started to accelerate you’d have a sudden rush of 130 horsepower on a tire contact patch the size of your fist. The only thing keeping you from wheeling over backwards or high-siding is your right wrist—there was nothing else controlling that. It was just the seat of your pants, your brain, and your right wrist and how you dealt with that. It’s not the same anymore."

Honda was working on (This Project) before the FIM group got wind of it and made quick rule adjustments saying (No you don't Honda) before it got to the circuits
