  Bridgestone Battlax T30 Review
Posted by: lola_imp - 03-24-2015, 12:06 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (19)

Hello All!

Another beautiful 75-80 degree F weather here in southern california so decided to scrub the new tires in... the route I chose was up Stunt canyon Rd to Piuma Canyon Road then finishing up the trip through Mulholland Hwy then back around again... A popular route for anybody and everybody that has wheels bolted onto axles, literally.

[url=http://s964.photobucket.com/user/jdcmendiola/media/jb%20magtan%20jb4/Screen%20shot%202015-03-24%20at%2012.51.29%20PM_zpsuqkza37t.png.html][Image: ab7ac0f0dab6ced29db1227ebca944f2.png]

there are two versions of the Battlax T30. The Regular T30 which I have and the T30 GT for the heavier Sport Tourers.Single Compound Front & Dual Compound Rear.

Size 110-80-18 front / 160-60-18 Rear

$217.00 Shipped from Revzilla.

Before heading out I set the tire pressure to 31psi cold both front and rear and made sure everything on the bike was sound. When I got to the twisty bits of Stunt Rd I spent about 10mins warming up the tires then proceeded to pick up the pace. Dry Grip is excellent! there were instances were I would have to adjust lean angle going in too hot or avoid debris mid corner and was able to come out clean with no drama coming from the tires. Flickability from left to right is improved that the bike actually felt like it lost a bit of weight. Bridgestone Says the belt construction are improved to save weight on tire construction. Braking felt solid and also powering out a turn felt minimal tire deflection. Overall great tires but there is a take away for having grippy tires and that would be tire stiffness of the t30. Cruising on the interstate and going over patches on the road felt annoying, very stiff.... Well I hope the touring part of the tire lives up to the name but only miles/kilometers will tell.... Now for the Pictures!

Good article. Favorable to the CB1100. A bit of obnoxious hyperbole though - "smoother than a jar of Skippy peanut butter and just as delicious", but gotta agree.

Be checking under your gas tank
Posted by: kDiqq_imp - 03-24-2015, 03:55 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (11)

I straddled up my bike after lunch today only to make a horrific discovery...

There were two hornets hanging out in the spark plug valley and under the tank that I startled. No stings, but I realized this bike makes a GREAT environment for wasps and hornets with all its corners and shaded areas underneath the cool tank.. I have an irrational fear of the things so, I'm ashamed to admit I nearly dumped the bike to get away. Eventually I got on, fired up real quick and sped off. Spring is here, be careful.

1978 Suzuki GS400 -- Starting my own little hoard
Posted by: Scoobynut_imp - 03-23-2015, 08:17 AM - Forum: Other Bikes - Replies (23)

Thought I'd post this so Hondahoarder and the rest of the old bike fans could see what I've been hiding. Big Grin My Dad bought this from the original owner 3 years ago, but wasn't using it so sold it to me for a song last Fall. I think it's one of the nicest unrestored bikes I've ever seen. Someone asked me if the original owner kept it in his house! I dunno, maybe? The only real flaw was some missing paint around one of the front turn signal brackets, but I have since touched that up to where you'd never know. Preservation not Restoration, right Hondahoarder?!?

It's a really neat little bike. The motor is counter-balanced and is as smooth as a four-cylinder. Deceptively quick too. It seems slower than the RD400, but sometimes when I look down at the speedometer I'm surprised by how fast I'm going. Gonna have to watch it.

Hey Scoobynut, spent the weekend going through her doing final tweaks, and she is plated, licensed, insured and ready to go. Can't wait to get her out this coming weekend. Just around the neighborhood so far but man what fun!

Preservation not restroation...saving old bikes one ata a time, that's what we're doing buddy!

Woke up to about 3" of snow on the ground here in the Chicagoland area. I put the snowblower away 2 days ago when it was 60 degrees. I must have jinxed it.
