I have been criticized by my rider group about the quality of Head light at either high or Low beam.
I want to change the stock Bulb with a LED one and am looking for a good easy install replacement.
There are many good one with or without fans with different Lumens , cool or white.
I have also search the forums about the lights and Bulbs in here and have some better idea than before .
Is there any specific best bulb that forum recommends., I am not worried to pay more and get one for do it all purpose, for good illumination and also for good protection (being visible for other drivers)
I am also going to order a set of fog lamps for my low SW-Motech bars. Clear water recommends Darla.
it is pricy thou.also I prefer some thing functional for both purpose as I have read some of the members bought from other vendors and not Happy with the illumination( I am not going to disclose the name )
I really appreciate any input from the forum members and their recommendations either from self experience or from knowledge in this field.
My bike is superior at any field other than offroading compared to my rider group bikes and I prefer to keep it the same way. a light bulb that can be easily replaced and with minimum time investment, and a good set of fog /axillary light and bars.
Please let me know.
Thank you ride safe/Ride long
Pretty much any modern H4 LED light kit you might find on Amazon these days will work as a "Plug and Play". I've installed many of them in my cars over the last few years and heat has never been a problem.
There are two things, however, that will be a problem:
(1) LED lights have a thicker base above the flange than the standard halogen bulb. This makes it exceedingly difficult to get the wire retaining clip in place. The best solution I have found is to use an LED bulb that comes in two pieces, the flange and the LED portion. This allows you to clip the flange in place, and insert the LED unit in afterward.
(2) The stock reflector was designed to focus light from a glowing halogen filament. When you use an LED in that reflector, the results are unpredictable. Generally, you will not get an even, focused distribution of the light, although it will be much brighter. You will wind up with bright spots and dark spots and lots of glare. One day, an LED light will hit the market a unit which does mimic the 360 degree horizontal pattern of a halogen bulb. Until then, the best solution I have found is an LED bulb that allows you to rotate the LED unit around after the flange is locked in place. That way, you can move it around in the flange and test which orientation works best, though none will be perfect.
The light I found is on Amazon. Search for:
