Hey, Tory, I don't have my manual handy at the moment but in automotive circles that indicates a condition that could harm the catalytic converter. Usually a misfire. If no one else chimes in I will be able to post chapter and verse later....

Hi Tory, your oxigen sensor heater is open circuit, code 23;
Have a look if the wiring is damaged on the oxigen sensor and the connector is in place. PCM codes and their meaning PCM DTCs: 1 - manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor (1-1=low voltage, 1-2=high voltage) 7 - engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor (7-1=low voltage, 7-2=high voltage) 8 - throttle position (TP) sensor (8-1=low voltage, 8-2=high voltage) 9 - intake air temperature (IAT) sensor (9-1=low voltage, 9-2=high voltage) 11 - vehicle speed (VS) sensor (11-1=VS malfunction, intermittent connection etc) 12 - #1 (left) fuel injector (12-1=FI malfunction, intermittent connection etc) 13 - #2 (right) fuel injector (13-1=FI malfunction, intermittent connection etc) 21 - oxygen (O2) sensor (21-1=O2S malfunction, intermittent connection etc) 23 - oxygen (O2) heater (23-1=O2 heater malfunction, intermittent connection etc) 29 - IACV (idle air control valve (29-1=IACV malfunction, intermittent connection etc) 54 - BA (bank angle) sensor (54-1=low voltage, 54-2=high voltage) 86 - serial communications (PCM to cluster) (86-1=communications error, bad power to cluster) If the bike drives normally it may be a good time to install an o2 sensor eliminator, have a look at these links; http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread....eliminator http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread....eliminator http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread....eliminator Tory Note that the eliminator will not work on 2017 models, only on earlier ones. Personally i have installed a 330 ohm resistor and it works fine on my 2010 cb1100.

Great post Max, and saved me some work
I just got the manual out and then saw your post.My prediction. He put on an aftermarket exhaust and no O2 sensor. I could be wrong...

I think in the recesses of my mind I know blinks are code, but I never seem to remember in the moment and I just think “huh?, its blinking!”

Very helpful information, max, and even better now I know how you arrived at 23.
Is there a difference between 23 and 23-1. If so, how is it signalled?

Tory glad it is fixed, what was the repair? we would like to know
Cormanus i was hoping houtman would chime in and cleared this up because the1 and 2 stands for two different faults. i guess it is another short flash after the 23 code but i have not seen any example of this, i wondered the same thing.

IIRC the sub codes don’t flash. Need a code reader for those. I’ll check the manual in a while to be sure. Its too early now. Need coffee
