Bike surging at speed

Depending on the severity and how it manifests itself could be hesitating around 3000 rpm because of the oxigen sensor leaning out the mixture, ( on off on off etc. ) that would feel like a slight stumble with irregular timing as if you move the throttle.
Initially i did not notice it but over time it started to annoy me, gets more noticeable at lower gearing.
solution; oxigen sensor eliminator, i finally installed my 330 ohm resistor and it is smooth now

Possibly have a look if any codes have been set with the mil light.

Could get more complicated from there on.
