If you feel comfortable doing it on your motorcycle that's fine. It's your bike not mine. I just wouldn't feel comfortable buying your bike when you are done with it. Just the way I feel.
Then again I won't buy a used bike with an aftermarket pipe, a cut off rear fender, or altered wiring of any kind.
I worked in the motorcycle industry for 17 years from 1972 to 1989 and saw the results of motorcycles that guys flogged, shifted without clutches, chopped up, and rewired every day. That generally taught me not to trust how some people treated their motorcycles. And that is why I have almost always bought brand new motorcycles. As a matter of fact I'm picking up a brand new bike tomorrow, and I'll know for sure from mile one, what kind of treatment the motorcycle will have received.
