Tank decal and the junk left behind

I experienced the same issue on my newly acquired 2013. Thinking it was adhesive residue, I purchased a pretty potent adhesive remover from auto parts store. It did clean up the balance of the adhesive, but the shadows remained. Not wanting to do anything to damage the finish, I quit there. After several weeks of riding, the shadows became less and less noticeable. Today, several months later, most people wouldn’t notice them.
