I think I had this problem after swapping handlebars or taking the head light mount off when I did my fairing.
The cables route a certain way down along the side of the triple tree/behind the headlight bucket to the right and if its in front of or behind the guide bracket for the cables or the headlight bracket I believe you lose an inch or 2 or the cables "free play"
I may not have explained that well but in a rush. I can take pics later of how my house routed if needed. I think mine is outside of the "cable guide bracket" to give it some extra play after I went back to the stock bars but used risers.
