After looking at how expensive some of these systems are are how I'm not totally sold on the looks, I decided to just build my own utilizing the factory header. I plan to cut the header right at the weld to the cat, delete the cat, run mild steel pipe back and up following the factory exhaust routing to a megaphone-style muffler (brand TBD). The look I'm going for is perfectly represented by this V&H system. (http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/998...st-system)
But my question is, what is the pipe diameter at the cat? Before I say the measurement I got, I wanted to see if a few others got something different. Just tried pulling the OD with a straight edge and tape measure.
Once all is done, I'm going to have all the mild steel used chromed. I'm hoping I can keep the factory bronze color of the header and just chrome the steel and muffler. Oh well, may just have to chrome it all..
