Here is an interesting thread on shift lever adjustment

My first adjustment was too high. My big foot couldn't handle it so I lowered it. I've tweaked it a couple times, since it is so easy an adjustment to make with one wrench. Since I had the pivot bolt off in order to remove the pin which holds the foot peg, I installed a Goldwing peg but had to slightly modify it to fit under the pivot bolt. I also greased the pivot bolt while I had it off to allow for smoother shifting. My shifting has always "popped" right into the proper gear and I did not want to lose that function. One of these days, I'm gonna try some high speed shifting to see if the cycle will do it.
