I don't have a definite answer for you about the 1100, but I swapped the left side engine cover on my CB900F, which has a very similar engine, and it was no big deal at all.
If you're at all handy with wrenches you can easily do it yourself.
The 900F has a gasket so there probably is one on the 1100 too.
