Good afternoon all-
Installing a new OVER swing-arm, and though the thing is a work of art, no torque values were included in the instructions (or at least none in a language I can decipher).
Anyone know what the swing-arm tightening torque is supposed to be for the 2013 models?
I think the rear axle is 83lb/ft, but I'm looking for the value for the front pivot point. Thanks!

80 ft lbs and the manual says to apply engine oil to the threads for some reason.

To get a proper torque reading. The threads provide resistance and the oil helps reduce that so you get the proper clamping force on the bolt.

We had to torque a lot of bolts in the newspaper printing industry, always used oil or vaseline whether we torqued foot or inch pounds. It made it far more reliable in getting the correct torque.

I always apply copper grease on bolts beforehand.

Interesting some tech manuals state if using anti seize or lube, you must increase torque value by a value.

Just curious; what possessed you to upgrade the swing-arm?

There are published values in engineering handbooks for tightening torque with and without lubrication. With lubricant the torque value will always be lower. I sheared the threads clean off the shock mounting bolt on my YZ250 when I put Mobil 1 synthetic grease on the threads - and I was torqueing it to the published value with a calibrated torque wrench.

I think it was driven mostly by fear. My doctor was convinced I had some bad stuff lurking inside, and while I waited for the appointment with a gastroenterologist to find out if I was past my expiration date, I dealt with the stress by immortalizing my ideals regarding the perfect CB1100.
The all-clear took longer than I thought it would, so I also have a set of Campagnolo replica wheels being built.
Apparently I'll live to a ripe old age, so I'll have lots of time to enjoy the CB.
