After you take off the bar ends you must remove the weight. See item 9 on the fiche : http://www.partzilla.com/parts/search/Ho...parts.html
It is held in with items 11 and 12. 12 will/may be destroyed when you remove the weight. The items hold it in pretty dang good. How to get it out? When I got a throttle control kit for my ST it came with a long screw, a washer, and a basically piece of pipe an inch or two long. Hold pipe on handlebar end. Put washer on end of pipe. Put screw through washer and pipe into the weight. Then use the screw to pull the weight out as far as you can, then use your hands or pliers. Not hard really, but the clip, item 12 got ruined. New new rubber parts and the clip are cheap. I would think you could find a socket that would fit and do the job.

I wonder if the CB1100 uses the same bar end weight clips as the CB500. If so, there is an easy way of removing them by rolling back the grips, pushing the clip tangs in, and drawing the weights out.
![]() It is fully explained in this [url=http://www.cb500x.com/index.php/topic,3834.0.html]BAR END WEIGHT thread on the CB500X Forum.

The parts numbers for the clips are not the same, but assemblies are built the same. Weight, 2 rubber parts, and a clip. Might work.
I just looked in the service manual and it says to do pretty much what your pic shows. Straighten the retainer tab with a screwdriver or punch Temporarily install the handlebar weight (the end weight they are talking about) and screw, then remove the inner weight while turning the handlebar weight. Note: Apply lubricant spray through the tab locking hole for easy removal. It also says to use a new retainer when reinstalling.

A crowd called Kaoko made a similar one which I'm pretty sure fitted the CB1100, although no-one on the forum seems to have had one on their CB. Their web site, http://www.kaoko.com/ is not responding, but Revzilla appears to stock them.

Jimgl3, get you one of these: http://www.2wheelride.com/GoCruise_throt...trol2.html
They work and are not expensive. A number of members have them. I have one also, but keep it as a spare in case my Throttlemiester (on the ST) or BrakeAway (on the CB) gives me problems. |
