  New 2014 Standard in Waycross
Posted by: redbirds_imp - 11-12-2015, 08:31 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (8)

Ran a few errands on the CB today and dropped by the Honda dealer, Southern Outdoors in Waycross, GA. They have a new 2014 STD on the floor if someone is looking.

  Let's see some mirror options
Posted by: Papa Weeley_imp - 11-12-2015, 04:16 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (6)

Since a lot of us here are big on modding our bikes - and I'm guessing you are if you're reading this part of the forum Big Grin - I thought I'd toss this out there about info on aftermarket mirror options. I've seen some really cool looking stuff in pics here, but have no way of knowing what some of them are, where they came from, etc..
I went with the matte black Honda CB500 models that a couple of other members so cleverly figured out work on our bikes. I like them a lot due to the factory quality and the fact that they really match my early-'80s-Superbike kind of look. But what else are you guys using out there? Please post info with price and supplier - and definitely pics!

Factory CB500 models - P/N 88210-MGZ-305 & 88220-MGZ-305, from Honda Parts Nation @ $34.68/ea.:

on a quick test fit they seemed to not work on the cb1100.
anyone have one that is usable ??

Has anyone put these bags on a 2014?
Do they require brackets? [Image: 37871f430d48a6354e2bf9dbca92119e.jpg]

Just sharing a few snaps from a brisk Sunday afternoon ride in the beautiful Malibu Canyons of So Cal. Couldn't have asked for better weather. Today in the U.S. we celebrate Veteran's Day in gratitude to the men and women who took the oath to defend this country against all enemies. To [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jnUoKsPgNuI]#ThoseWhoDared, THANK YOU!

*Directly related to the CB1100 because many moons ago I took the oath and today I'm going for a ride on mine.

  Help a potential buyer out?
Posted by: Verdecken_imp - 11-10-2015, 01:24 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (30)

Hey all! I'm on the younger side at 25, but I've wanted a CB1100 since they were announced. My first bike a couple of years ago was a '71 CB750 and I loved it. Unfortunately, it had quite a few issues and previous owners had butchered it a bit so I let it go. I'm currently on a 2015 FZ07, but it just doesn't have that CB feel.

I found a 2014 CB1100 STD for $6300 and ~3k miles about 160 miles from me, so I can't just go check it out. Does this seem like a good deal?

I'm also interested to see if anyone has put on aftermarket exhausts? I've done some googling but I'm not finding exactly what I'm looking for. I like the look of some Cycle Exchange pipes, which are made for the 70s-80s 750s through 1100s. Does anyone know if these would work on a new CB1100 even though they're not designed for them? Is the geometry similar enough?

Anyway, if I can get the price and trade that I want, I may be posting about my new CB this weekend!!! Thanks in advance for all of your help and info.

  Winter Cover
Posted by: pbhati_imp - 11-10-2015, 06:16 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (29)

I've been looking for a decent cover to keep the dust off my bike for the winter. It will be in an attached garage, so it doesn't need to be heavy duty. I do some wood work and am looking to keep the bike clean. I've seen some relatively cheap (<$20) at different home improvement shops. Will those do the trick?

  Quality of Motorcycle Gear
Posted by: Cormanus - 11-09-2015, 05:13 PM - Forum: Riding Gear - Replies (6)

[url=http://motorbikewriter.com/motorcycle-gear-fails-abrasion-tests/]This is an interesting piece quoting research that a great deal of the motorcycle safety clothing sold in Australia isn't up to much. Unfortunately it doesn't tell us which gear is good, but I'll leave the discussion about that to the sceptics in the comments section of the article.

I agree with the researcher that a trustworthy rating system for helmets and gear would be a good thing for consumers. After all, the only way you're going to find out if your kit is up to it is when you have to test it. It might be a bit late then.
