Let me preface this with the fact that I've yet to own any Honda CB that wasn't built in the 70's. I've had some dirt bikes that are from the 21st century but the street bikes have all been old school. Time for a change of pace.

Lighter, more maneuverable and faster. Much Much Faster. The first mod I did was to transplant the radar detector from the 750. It's saved my hiney so many times I can't keep track. I'm really happy with it's sensitivity and ruggedness.http://www.adaptivtechnologies.com/gear/...r-detector


My first bummer: CATALYTIC CONVERTERS! What the heck ever! On a motorcycle? The problem is, is that I'm a pilot and I have free access to minor amounts of 100LL aviation fuel...


This stuff has been the nectar of the gods for all of the motorcycles I have ridden. It's the cleanest, highest octane(100) fuel I have ever used. And did I mention, free?

Now what am I going to do! I know that leaded fuel wreaks havoc with catalytic converters. But, 'LL' means low lead. Much lower than standard leaded fuels.

Are there other systems on this new-fangled CB that will be adversely affected by the 100LL?

I'm having a hard time not using that stuff in a bike. I'm still on my first tank of gas. It's 2/3rds unleaded, 1/3 100LL. And the bike rockets down the road...

So, I'm reaching out to you guys for opinions about mixing 100LL with unleaded fuel.

If you can see it in this photo, my front tire is wearing unevenly. Along the side of the tread, you can see the unevenness... there's actually ridges becoming noticeable where some spots of the tire are worn more than others, and these two sections are right next to each other. And I only have 3000 miles on the bike. In addition I noticed yesterday that my rear tire looks like it's ready to be replaced. Is this normal at 3000 miles? I went 10,000 on the Harley before I replaced its originals tires... Thoughts?

Hey everybody, good day.

New to the site. Just purchased a 2014 CB1100. Love it!
Shopping for fairings before the summer kicks in here in NY. Choices seem pretty limited. I only found one Japanese company. It appears Honda doesn't even make one. Any advice on where to purchase fairings for this bike would be appreciated.

Phase 2 complete. Removed Kijima grab bar. Added Daytona seat, motodemic headlight, did some body work to the tank and painted it. Tried to go with some woodcraft clip ons but I didn't like them once them were in place. Ended up with some dime city bars that are very similar to the renthal ultra lows, but don't have quite as much sweep.

A new Cycle World hit the mailbox today. They test the new Norton Commando.

Bottom line, a lot of vibes, 490 pounds without fuel ( measured, Norton claims 415) 517 wet, 70.8 rwhp @ 7200 rpms, 58.7 ft lbs of torque@ 5660 rpms. 8K redline, 1/4 mile 12.85 @ 103.05 mph, $ 19,995.00 msrp

Thanks to my CB1100 Forum brother, mininsx (aka Jimmy) I just "jimmytuned" my OEM exhaust. I followed his instructions and accompanying pictures to the letter. The mod took me about 45 minutes (and I'm slow). In a word: f'ing ACE's!!! The result is I get to keep my stock exhaust (which I kinda like) but I get the sound of a pricey aftermarket pipe. The sound is absolutely perfect for me. Louder and better than before by far. Not obnoxious, but close enough to put a s**t eating grin on my face! If you want to see what it looks like, take a look at his pictures. Many thanks again pal. Mininsx is the man! In the future, when I get in a bind, and life throws me a curve, I will ask myself one question: What would mininsx do???

I have come to realize the greatness of many products sold by Montgomery Ward. I FINALLY picked up my new CB1100 today, after waiting three weeks for my dealer to install accessories. No one went over the accessories at the time I picked it up, so I just loaded it and got it home. One of the accessories I had them install was some secondary LED lights, mounted on the front down tubes. When I discussed this with the service dept. mgr. and the time of purchase, he recommended that they would wire them through the existing light switch. They would come on with the high beam on the main headlight. Had some discussion about a separate switch, etc, anyway ended agreeing to his suggestion.
Upon further inspection tonight I find that they have drilled a hole in the plastic fairing just ahead of the left side access panel, below the gas tank and installed a little push button on/off switch.
(Is this the crankcase breather housing?)
So as I'm going around the twisty roads around arkansas at night, I have to take my hand off of the bar and lower it between my legs everytime I want to turn the led's on or off??
Is it just me or is this stupid?
Before I take the bike back, I wanted to ask your experienced opinions.
Does anyone have any ideas or experience with something like this?
Opinions welcome.

I realized that in prep for the rally in June... I have to find something to carry my. Crap..err stuff, you know some clothes and cigars..

Since I sold my Ktm 990Adv, I don't have a bike with hard luggage, and my off road bike (Ktm 620 Egs-e, basically a 620 dual low pipe adv) soft bags are too long.. They hang down to the exhaust on the CB ...

I'm starting to remember why I got hard bags... The problem is that the CB, at least to me would look a little funny.. Mine has the metal fenders removed and replaced with black plastic ones. So a rear rack might not work...

So anyway, I picked up this for a good price, a gears navigator bag...

It looks to be a decent size and will work... However, while the rally isn't too far, if I run into inclement weather.. I thinking I might want a bikini fairing, for nothing else to rain water from pooling on my crotch. I hate that...

So while I like the looks of some of the fairings, I don't know how well it might work with soft luggage... I like the overall cafe look, so I don't want too big, but if a smaller one splits the wind, I'd prefer the buffeting of the split wind not hit the bag/s.

So I was looking for some recommendations. I've been searching this forum for ideas, as well as Google. I like the chic fairings, but wonder how it does with luggage. I'm thinking the dart Marlin might be big enough to divert the rain, but not big enough to divert it to bags...

So I figured I would ask other for their experiences..
