Austrian MotoGP *** SPOILER ALERT ***
Posted by: CB4ME_imp - 08-11-2016, 09:28 PM - Forum: Motorcycling - General - Replies (18)

The summer break is over and the second half of the season begins with 9 races in 13 weeks.

This is their first time at the Red Bull Ring. On paper, this F1 track favors horsepower (Ducati) with fewer corners and more straights than other tracks. Lots of elevation changes (65 meters high to low) are added to the mix.

Maverik Vinales upset the convention wisdom by leading FP1 with a couple of Ducati's and Valentino Rossi right behind. Should be an interesting weekend.

BeIn Sports will air qualifying this afternoon and the races Sunday morning.

It is expensive and kind of ugly (imho) but I like the idea of an adjustable seat!

The day job brought me to wine country this week and I'm amazed at how most riders (commuters, I think) go ATGATT!! Thumbs Up

I'm working in the Lake Sonoma area this week. Beautiful country up here.

That'd be all

Cool

...just because. Wink

Mine (crappy photo from "back in the day", badly scanned to a low-pixel digital image about 15 years ago):

And a much better picture, just found on the interweb (I'm drooling all over this guy's bike):

  New retro grips
Posted by: Papa Weeley_imp - 08-10-2016, 08:50 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (17)

As a follow-up to my bar end weight thread (http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=9252), I decided to experiment and forego the weights and try some grips I really wanted to use on the bike.
They're designed for the previous generation Triumph Bonneville, which is what I had them on, and really loved 'em. Very retro, and even more comfortable to me than the Grip Puppies that I've used on several bikes over the years. I got them from New Bonneville, and they call them "Gran Turismo Style Grips", but the old guys always called them "football grips" due to their obvious shape. I had the foresight to order two sets way back when, and luckily, both my Bonnie and the CB have 7/8" diameter handlebars.
I still wasn't sure about the fit, or running them without the bar weights, but they fit perfectly, and if the lack of weights in the bars causes too much vibration, I can still just cut the ends off the grips and run the weights through them (haven't ridden it yet to find out, literally just finished putting them on!). I do like the slimmer (width) feel of the bars though, and even though I'm using them expressly for comfort, the retro style looks great to my eye, too. Thumbs Up

New tires needed. Best experiences appreciated.

Hey guys,

Need some new tires. I know I could dig through old posts, but I think it's be more time-wise to let those of you who spend the most time on here either point me to the most helpful threads or just give me your advice or favorite tire.

Thanks
