Met up with a fellow forum member "regularworkingdad" (aka: John) and rode 330 miles through the back roads of ten Missouri county's. What a great guy and an excellent day on the bikes! Another benefit of this site!

NEW SEAT - NOT A "PAIN" IN THE BUTT
Posted by: rozbabbo1100_imp - 08-17-2016, 04:10 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (6)

thought I would show off my new seat...5 weeks in the making and finally done. As everyone has stated I too found the stock CB1100 seat to be numbingly uncomfortable after about 60 miles. I rode to Vintage Motorcycle Days in Mid Ohio this past July from Buffalo NY and I can honestly say I was ready to set the bike on fire by the time I got there.

I worked with a local auto upholstery and custom shop. Couldnt beat the estimate I got; way cheaper than Samurider after shipping. Took 4 times to get it perfect but im glad I went this route. I had the tailbone area carved out, gel inserted, memory foam, two other types of foam, hard foam to created a back support as well as custom stitched "pleather" which is way softer than the vinyl that was on there and it cost about $375.00 all said and done. so far I have gone on two separate 250 mile rides and not a hint of pain. I love the retro stitching and the over all look it gives the bike.

super happy.

   Is it a sport bike?
Posted by: Streetshark07_imp - 08-16-2016, 04:02 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (48)

I don't know if this has already been discussed, I mean I tried a little to find a mention on this forum, but didn't try that hard.
Anyway, can the Honda CB1100 be called a sport bike? I inadvertently got it classified as one on my Army unit's paperwork because the only 2 boxes were sport and cruiser and I figured it is closer to sport than cruising AND this got me rooked into having to sign up for a sport bike riding course (because of my hall monitor style nanny Company Commander).
I also have a legitimately sport touring bike that would categorically be a good match for this class, but I think the course would be SO MUCH EASIER on the CB1100.
So the question is, can I reasonably call this good standard naked bike a "sport" bike?
Thank you for your time.

  Sato Racing Rearsets
Posted by: harishsknair_imp - 08-16-2016, 11:34 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (9)

Hey gang - Has anyone in the forum installed the CB1100 rearsets by Sato Racing?

Here's the link: http://www.satoracing.com/rearsets_HondaCB1100.htm

It seems to be designed for the 2014 and newer model. I followed up with them to find out if it would work for my 2013 ABS model. Here's Matt's response from Sato racing

"Thank you for your interest in Sato Racing products!

Our CB1100 Rear Sets were designed off the mildly updated 2014 model, and has not been confirmed by our engineers to fit earlier versions, but we believe they will also fit a 2013 CB1100 ABS without any issues, since the hardware related to the rear sets area of the bike did not appear to change between those model years. We have sold at least one set to an owner of a 2013 non-ABS model, and as far as we know it worked out fine for him, since we haven't heard back from him since the purchase last year.

We are fairly confident it will fit your CB1100 without any issues. And we would even be happy to give you any technical assistance you may need if you do run into a problem."

Is there any hardware different in footrest brackets between ABS vs non-ABS and 2013 vs 2014 models? Appreciate any inputs here.

For those wondering why the rearset - it's for the track. I know, I know. It's too much fun to not do it on our beloved CB1100.

  My new, fantastic ride.
Posted by: rsp123_imp - 08-16-2016, 09:22 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (12)

At long last I have the bike. After an age of indecision I bought my CB on Ebay last month from a car dealer in Florida. It arrived yesterday. I insured it today and took it for a short ride to get some gas. It's the best bike I've ever ridden. Better than my 1980 Kawasaki Z650 C3, better than my 1981 GS1000, better than my 1986 Honda Bol D'Or, better than my 1991 Honda Revere, better than my 1997 Moto Guzzi 1100 Sport, better than my 2001 BMW R1150.

I LOVE IT.

Many thanks to all here who have poured their questions and wisdom onto these pages. It really is a brilliant resource. I'm sure you'll be hearing from me in due course...

Got my Honda Rack Removed and Question
Posted by: postoak_imp - 08-16-2016, 07:25 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (9)

So, the parts I've been waiting for came in this afternoon and I went out and finished up that project.

To my surprise, the 4 bolts that hold the garnishes on, stick out from the garnishes. I guess they're meant to function as tie-downs.

The question is, on the rack I took off, they didn't stick out from the rack. Just the hex heads were visible. Is this the way the hardware is for the racks?

I'm about to put the rack up for sale and want to be able to explain about any differences in hardware -- if there are any.

   Custom paint job underway...
Posted by: Rebel73_imp - 08-16-2016, 06:59 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (52)

So after a little mishap that scratched up my RC fairing, I decided that I may as well go for a custom paint job. The shipped cost of a new RC is almost $400, and repainting it on its own is almost as much, so for $750 I decided to redo the whole bike and get an even more unique CB1100. I'm going with a silver/red two tone, with black pinstripes and a "59" (my club) logo painted on either side of the Chic Trunk Seat. I thought it might be fun to document the process here and y'all can watch her come to life with me.
