Hey guys, I have a decent trip coming up that I've never been on so I'm going to need my phone for nav and a tank bag or other device to hold it and protect it from the elements. I was leaning toward a tank bag because of the extra storage, but I'm open to other ways to hold my phone as well. My CB1100 is completely stock, no wind screen. What do you suggest using, please include make/model.

I am getting two small dents removed from my tank and will repaint tbe whole tank. Fel lime going with a different color. If you google Honda CB1100 custom painted tank images a whole lot of ideas come to mind. I want to make the honda wings on tank a custom tribute to my brother who recently passed from cancer. He had the first CB 750 in our small town we grew up in. Thinking of Candy Apple tank, side covers and air box.
Any suggestions?

Got a call from a good friend. He asked if I wanted a 1973 Suzuki GT750.
"of course!". Last time I saw it was about 20yrs ago, and it wasn't looking too good back then. Couldn't turn it down, so hooked up the trailer and brought it home.

Fixed the starter, carbs were pretty clean, and it turned over
Hooked up a portable fuel tank and battery.

Just thought I'd show how I finally got to the CB1100. Since 2010 I've owned a Harley Night Rod Special, a BMW S1000RR, a Harley Road Glide Ultra and a Can Am RT limited. I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed and it took me a while for reality to set in that I'm Old and Slow and it was time to buy something that actually fit my riding style. No more Bad A$$, no more stupid fast, no more Ultra heavy and the snow mobile on wheels is just that a snow mobile on wheels. Light and nimble and simple works for me, Happy, Happy, Happy on my CB.

Started out Saturday the 1st from Altamonte Springs FL. (a few miles north of Orlando). Took 6 other friends along with.
Backroads, no Interstates. First night in McRae GA. Next two nights Waynesville NC. Last night and tonight, High Vally Air Park, Suches GA.
This coming Thurs, Fri, Sat, Leeds AL. for the Barber Vintage Festival.
1286 miles on this trip to date, lots of great riding!!!!!!
I put the stock seat back on so I could sling my saddlebags and barrel bag on the back.
Final plan is to arrive back home in Winter Park either late Sunday or whenever the heck I get there Monday. Everything's been good so far, except for other riders, 3 tires, one rectifier. The CB, so far, has been trouble free.

I'm in my 40's. I've been hotrodding anything with an engine since I was a kid.

I've installed cams in lots of stuff, and ported the 2 strokes..including several cars.

Now I know this bike isn't about speed, so I don't need to hear 'buy a different bike'.. but a little more juice couldn't hurt.

So with that being said, I have purchased a set of 2014 cams to send out to a cam manufacturer I've spoken with who will measure them for specs and get back to me with thoughts.

I'm not looking to go crazy. But with modern epa motors, the cams are generally very mild and easy to get gains without having to resort to extremes.

Just trying to get an idea if anyone else would want them as well.

More HP, 17 " rims, lighter exhaust. Oh My!

I recently returned from Albuquerque, New Mexico where my wife and I visited family and attended the International Balloon Fiesta. What an amazing experience that was! While there I noticed a number of riders without helmets. I tried to make a mental note of roughly how many wore helmets vs. how many didn't and my impression was that a little more than half of the riders I saw had helmets on.

I wondered what I would do if California didn't require a helmet. I didn't wonder long, however, and quickly knew that I'd more than likely always choose to wear one. I thought why not ask all of you for your thoughts. Are you in a state where helmets are optional and, if so, what do you do? If you're in a state where helmets are mandatory, do you resent it or embrace it? If given the choice, what would you do?

After years with a Throttlemeister on my R1150RT, I just had to have one on my 2013 CB1100. Problem is, one is not available. I ordered a Kaoko from Twisted Throttle but one listed (19mm) doesn't fit. The fine folks at Twisted Throttle set me up with a 17mm that did indeed fit. The original was returned. Superior service from Twisted Throttle! The Kaoko isn't as elegant as the Throttlemeister but works just fine. It sure makes longer rides much more enjoyable with less right hand/wrist fatigue.
