When we lived in the Southern part of Holland we had some really great meals in Belgium.

I've been several times in your country but not long enough on my way to France, to find out how good the food of Belgium tastes. Only ate very good pommes while stopping at a gasoline station on the highway but didn't drank a beer while riding.

The Harvey House in Slaton TX for any train fans

In the 1870's, there were no dining cars and train travelers headed west had to find whatever was available when the train stopped to take on fuel and water.

The Harvey House concept began in 1876 when Scottish immigrant Fred Harvey recognized the need for quality meals and lodging for railroad travelers. He then persuaded the manager of the new Atchison, Topeka, & Santa Fe (AT&SF) Railroad that he could provide just that. The first Harvey House restaurant opened in the Topeka Santa Fe Depot Station that same year. It was an immediate success and led to other Harvey House restaurants and hotels about every 100 miles along the entire Santa Fe route.

The Slaton Harvey Hose operated from 1912 to 1942, but the facility continued as a passenger and freight depot for many years. The building went into disrepair after ATS&F ceased operations from Slaton and was facing demolition when a group of locals and others with close connections mounted a successful effort to save and restore the building.

Years ago when my work took my son & I to western, OK the OKC Honda Dealer sponsored an annual Ride Oklahoma event each year. I believe it was co-sponsored by the Indian Territory Riders as well. They'd give you a booklet to record your travels and then give you various towns to hit and show proof of your visit either by dated receipt or photo. Hugo, OK just happened to be one of the many towns on the hit list and had a great Harvey House location and museum. The actual towns listed weren't always something to shout about (it's the journey...) but this had some nice history to share.

This is also where Buster Brown hailed from if memory serves me correctly. Ringling, OK was also in the general area from the old Ringling Bros, Barnum & Bailey days.

I have become a fan of historical buildings and the efforts to restore them. The story that went with the Slaton Harvey House was that a crew showed up one day to demolish the building. Fortunately they hired a local plumber to salvage some of the fixtures and he immediately notified city officials. Story may have been exaggerated, but supposedly people showed up to link arms and stand between the bulldozers and the building.

That's just not an "old plane from WWII". I don't know much about these things, but I am quite sure that there others here that do, but that is an example, if I'm not mistaken, of one of the most significant aircraft models in the history of aviation.

All the more reason that a CB1100 should be in the same photo.
