Adjusting handlebars on a 2017'RS
#1
Hi,

Maybe it's a stupid question, but there we go:

From the original set-up, can the handlebars be rotated axialy in their clamps, or is there some kind of notching so the original position can't be changed without drilling or machining of some kind?

I'd just like to try some minor adjustment, to see if I can get the bars slightly higher and closer to me. Just a bit...

Any advise?

Thanks!

The Ferret did a tutorial on adjusting bars (http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=3636 ) but all the pictures have gone the way of Botophucket. On the 2010-2014 bikes, at least, it is relatively easy to make minor adjustments of the bars. I assume the 2017 is the same.

So there are no pins or nothing that locks the handlebar angle or controls position?

No, once loosened they rotate easily. That's how it is on the 2014. I'd mark the factory position, in some way, so you can see how far you have gone.

Done. Easy peasy!

I have no torque-wrench, so I marked the factory position for the bar and also the bolts, so I was sure I didn't over-tighten them.

It's now raining here, so I haven't been able to test it yet, but I think I'll be more confortable now, even if I have changed the handlebar position just by a degree or so.
