Oil temperature light, i just checked mine and it lights up on the startup cycle and goes out again.
This light is indicated as " warn" by Honda and is connected to the e.c.u.pin A20 and is a white/blue wire.
It lights up when a high oil temperature is measured by the e.c.u. and the oil temperature sensor is located at the back of the cylinders just below the cam chain tensioner and has two wires.
It may pay to have a look if the connector is in place and what happens if this connector ( or the wires ) is moved slightly, be careful because the terminals on this sensor ( a temperature variable resistor ) are very small, this black connector has a small locking tab that has to be pushed up by pinching your fingers to disconnect the plug.
Not sure if a high engine temperature will stop the engine but i remember riding around with it unplugged so it may only go in limp mode, worth a look.
What model and year is your bike?
