hi pd, you’re mostly right, and partly wrong. If it’s not mentioned in the Honda service schedule then I don’t have to mess with it. But knowing the where, how und why still pays.

Well, in theory- you could get a service manual and read / learn how to take the whole bike apart and back together.
For anyone interested- here is one for a '13 and MUCH less than all the other sellers on Ebay-

95% of it applies to a 14 as well.

I'd argue that figuring out how to replace the fuel filter isn't something worth sorting out ahead of time, but it's not a bad idea to figure out how to remove the fuel tank if you have time on your hands. For one reason or another, it seems like something that always needs to happen on a bike. And on the 2017, figuring out the trick when not in the heat of battle is a decent idea since it's different than most of the YouTube and forum advice out there. In this case, once the tank is off, getting the pump assembly out is trivial.
Agree with dubs though that the filter isn't likely to need replacement ever.

It is uncommon Gecko, but not impossible to needing to service the fuel filter and pump. I am unaware of any normally maintained CB1100 model year needing the extra attention.
That said, other Honda models have not been so lucky. Example: 2019 to about 2021 Honda Africa Twin AS trim option had manufacturing debris contaminating the fuel in the tank and completely clogging the OEM fuel filter.

My dad bought a new sedan, years ago. Nice 6 cyl injected engine, and first time he goes on the interstate and at a little higher speed ... the engine simply quits in the left lane. He barely manages to pull over. What to do ? Try if it starts. No luck. Try again, no joy. Call for help, and when the truck arrives, the friendly helper asks for the keys, uses it, and ... roar ... in 2secs engine is running again. He leaves with a smile, after presenting the paperwork for the insurance.
My dad is stunned, okay he says “let’s go home”. He stays on the right lane this time, mumbling sth in his beard. And guess what happened next ?

Murphy arrived?
Was Dad able to glean from the friendly helper what the root cause was? Or it just happen to work at that moment? (i.e. Murphy went away)

Went looking for the fuel filter on Mrs.' Honda CRV, found that it is permanent and non-serviceable.
So, my CB's filter is the same, being a Honda. Right?

No the CBs filter is separate from the pump, but you have to remove the pump assembly from the tank to get to it, and it's over $300 for the filter alone.
