180 pounds (typical rider weight used for stopping distances, etc.) and a skinny butt (no extra padding)

Going to Panamint Springs tomorrow, via Beatty and Stovepipe Wells, returning to north Las Vegas Valley via Badwater, Shoshone and Pahrump, just over 400 miles. Fellow rider will be on a Sportster 883.

I will look into a fancy seat better for two-up as my missus does like to ride pillion and sight-see. I can ride the stock seat all day. Of course, the best seat accessory is to lose 30 lbs. So I am working on that. I will try losing weight before spending money. I was at the Leesburg bike fest a couple weeks ago and did notice that many of us are "oversquare" so to speak.

I'm in the "this ain't no touring bike, but the seat is just fine, thank you very much" camp.

a Dealer in Jacksonville has received several new, 2014 CB1100's. They are for sale at US$5,980 . I have been an admiring lurker for a while, but I find this tempting. Is that a decent deal for a new non-ABS model ? Evidently he has 8 of them because they all have different stock numbers.

I am thinking about getting one of the "new" 2014 models. I was wondering if the brake fluid and clutch fluid should be changed. The owners manual states every 2 years. I know it's been in a warehouse, but the fluid is hygroscopic and probably still absorbs moisture. Any thoughts?

I would, and I do mine every 2 years. Its really easy to do on the CB.

To add: I wouldn’t worry over it. Wait for a rainy Saturday or do it in the Fall if you want to ride now!

I bought a lightly used 2013 a couple months ago, I changed the oil myself and had the dealer do the brake/clutch fluids (just didn't want to hassle with the mess) was only $125 labor and about $30 for the fluid. Did it need to be done, especially here in very dry Colorado< probably not. But I liked the idea of starting with everything fresh. If iwas to buy one of the "new" 2014's I would probably ride it the first 600 miles very quickly and then change everything YMMV.

Just ordered a new 2014. $6400 + tax. My 2013 with 10K miles will be up for sale soon. Couldn't resist. Well, I could resist, but I didn't. Blush
