I haven't run across this figure. Can someone here supply me with the alternator output (preferably in Watts) though amps is fine. too. And perhaps at what rpm the alternator produces rated power?
Thanks,
Bob

From the 2014 factory manual, 0.336 kw @ 5,000 rpm.

336 watts / 14.2 volts = 23.66 amps
That seems low on the basis of pre-EFI Sportsters are 22 amp systems and EFI models are 32 amp systems.

CB alternator output capacity is rated at 336W/5000rpm...so Rocky is right, as well as SD with his conversion to 23.6A@14.2V...

What do you reckon the bike uses of that 23.6 amps?

Thanks to all of you for your responses. That's roughly what my 2003 Bonneville produced, and 15 - 20% more than my old Beemer system puts out. Just wanted to know for when I install heated grips and possibly run a heated vest at the same time.
The unknown is ....... how much does the fuel injection system/fuel pump use? Other things, like headlight and running lights, are easy to calculate. I think low beam is 55W. Just have to add up the rest of the bulbs.
I think I'm good running a relatively low-wattage vest and heated grip system, at least once I'm moving down the highway. I've gotten by with that setup for years with the 280W output of the R100GS system.

I recall reading a recent discussion of output/heated gear etc. but can't find it.
After reading it I figured my jacket liner and glove liners used all of the available extra. I use them sparingly deferring to the jacket first.

I have a Gerbing heated jacket liner and love it , do not buy their controller , there are easier ones to use than theirs.
