amber LED fog lights

I have noticed lately, the police bikes here in ventura, ca. have very bright amber LED fog lights.. they really looked good to me, so I bought two of them.. I mounted them on the rubber mounted oil cooler to minimize vibration and to keep them away from the headers, figuring heat and vibration are the two killers of some electronics.. most of the reviews were good but they warned of screws coming loose, so I used locktight and different mounting bolts.. the lights really help you to be seen.. also they help me when riding my favorite road (hwy 33) and going through the unlit tunnels.. prices vary between $20. to over $200 for a pair.. mine cost me $65.. they are made of a cast metal and feel quite solid.. only time will tell as to how they will hold up, but I really like them !! .. hopefully my new friend Peter, will be able to post my pics for me..... chuckk j.

Chuckk, Great look, and very neat, clean installation. Aside from the obvious road lighting benefits at night, obviously more visible to oncoming traffic in daylight. Inquiring minds would love to see a link to where you bought them, some pictures of your wire routing, and where you tapped in for power. Is there an on off switch as well?

I love those little lights. I've got that pair on my Bonneville, and had a pair on my last three bikes. Cheap as heck and they run forever. I get them from Ebay, but last time, I went for the cheapest ones I could find. The quality of the casting and hardware was really bad. I put them in my trailer for night lights, but wouldn't put them on a bike. They literally looked like a cheaper knock-off of the knock-off of these... which are a knock-off of nice lights.

Stick with the ones that aren't $10 each and you'll be fine. I was wary of that little lock screw on the base, and loctited mine as well. I still give them a jiggle every now and then to make sure they're tight, and have never had a problem. They are pretty good at heat resistance as well. I had a pair on my last BMW R1200R, on brackets that I made. They stood out from the engine and put the lights about an inch over the cylinders on each side of the bike. Never had a problem with them.

The pair on my Bonneville have been going strong for five years now.

Mounted to the oil cooler... now why didn't I think of that! I put mine on stand-offs I made on the fender mount bolts. Putting them on the unsprung wheel wasn't my first choice, but now that it's done, I'll stick with it. They are out of the way and work fine down there.

...Until I decide to copy your mounting solution, that is. Looks like you just had to fashion some spacers to move the light off of the cooler?

search on amazon .. oz-usa led lights .. if you click on the chrome one, it will give you color options etc.. the amber ones are a little more than the white.. I had to do a fair amount of searching to find them originally.. peter, the link you posted doesn't give one the color options.. nice try though.. thanks.. by the way.. I have just a few more pics, showing how I installed the lights on to the oil cooler.. a spacing collar was needed.. I will email the pics.. chuckk j.

I use plastic Folgers ground coffee cans for all my nuts, washers , bolts , springs and many other small parts and all separated by what they are.
If I need something I just empty the can on a newspaper and look for what I need.
