No service on the cb1100 @600 miles and have to drive it ~ 400 miles on a road trip. I could see about it after the 400 miles. Is it safe to do this?

When are you taking the trip? Only takes about 20 minutes to change your oil and filter.

Ok I am looking to purchase a used one and have to drive it back. Back to negotiating table.

Well, it won't " hurt" it. If you are buying from a dealer make them do it. If you are buying from an individual, check the level ( it will probably be slightly overfilled) just make sure it is above the minimum level. Go ahead and drive it home, then perform the service once you get home.

Far less about getting the oil changed at exactly 600 miles, and more about how the person rode and treated the bike during those 600 miles. Broken in properly, with the rpm limits honored, and a few hundred more miles on the original oil should be of no consequence. If the guy ran around abusing a brand new engine, then the greatest damage has probably already been done.

Congratulations on the new bike.
Please tell us how you like it and how you enjoyed the trip. You shouldn't have anything to worry about. mike

I'm assuming that most people who buy these things aren't thrashing them; not like purchasing a second-hand R1! Should be fine, I wouldn't worry about it. Takes no time to change oil/filter when you get it home.
