Bike running without any issue but just the yellow check engine indicator on. I'm wondering if anyone experience this, please share. Thanks

Wait, how did you rack up so many kms on a 2017 already? Well done.

An addendum: things may different on the 2017RS, but the Owner's Manual for the 2010 bike says the engine (or PGM-FI) malfunction indicator lamp,
Quote:Lights when there is any abnormality in the PGM-FI (Programmed Fuel Injection) system. Should also light for a few seconds and then go off when the ignition switch is turned ON and the engine stop switch is at ⟳ (RUN).

If it comes on at any other time, reduce speed and take the motorcycle to your Honda dealer as soon as possible.

Thanks

MIL on= DTC is set = retrieve it and fix it accordingly.
MIL on indicates MPI/emission (if RS has PCSV) malfunction, whether history or present.
Don't experiment..
Good luck

The CEL will illuminate steady at RPMs above 1700 or with sidestand up.

It's on steadily when turning the key on and either at idle RPMs at 1400 or above 1700. I kept on riding for 2 days and try to notice any abnormal signs but none so far but the CEL

Turn ignition switch on, with stop/run switch in run mode, without starting the engine.
If ECM has stored DTC, the CEL/MIL will illuminate 0.3 seconds, go off, then start blinking code.
If no stored DTC, CEL/MIL will illuminate and stay on until after engine is started, per the FSM.

Tuan, where in Vietnam are you located?

Thanks SporsterDoc, i've done as said but it just stays illuminated, no blinking. just like you turn on the light and leave it there Big Grin
i'm going to bring it to service tomorrow for better diagnostics. I live in Vung Tau city, which is 100km east of Ho Chi Minh city.

Huh
pb
Well, i've been riding it since fresh purchase without any issues and the MIL on when ODO clocks at 27k km. MIL on when i turn on the key and stay. It's supposed to go away after illuminating for a while but it's now stay illuminated all the way

Assuming you tried to read the DTC correctly (make sure the sidestand is down) it could be a couple of things and may be hard for a non-technician to find.

You dealer will connect the HDS (Honda diagnostic system) to the DLC (Data link connector) and read any codes. If the MIL light is on and there are no codes it may be a fault in the MIL circuit.

Found the culprit Big Grin. Oxygen sensor No 1 faulty (RS has 2 sensors) once the tech guy hooked up on his laptop. Replaced the sensor and the CEL gone immediately.

Thanks all for the inputs.

A failed #1 O2 should have blinked a 21 DTC: Two 1.3 second blinks and a 0.5 second blink.

On a 2014, the DLC (data link connector) has a dummy cap over the bl/w, br, o/w, g wires. The gear indicator is fed by y, br, rw, bl, gn wires.

Is it different on the 2017?
