Power Commander V - for YOSH exhaust
#1
Hello,

I wanted to put up some info I got when I modified my 2013 CB1100 with a Power Commander V. I have the Yoshimura 4into1 Full Exhaust mounted on the bike, and I always thought it ran lean with stock fuel injection map. Although it didn't run badly. So, I invested a bit and got the PC-V.

Before I got it on the bike I looked into mapping files for my set up, but didn't find the exact one. So, I reached out to Power Commander and they got back to me with a custom map that they said came as close as they could determined based on running the Yoshimura Exhaust and a K&N air filter.

The install was super easy, and uploading the file they sent was no problem either. The entire process took 30 min. This video was super helpful:

Immediately I felt like the PC-V made the throttle and accretion more responsive. No idea about extra HP, but it felt quicker for sure. Not drastic, but seemed to run a bit smother and like I said more responsive. It does however still have some decent gargle and popping on deceleration - which I'm looking into.

I think it may still be a little lean too. The bike runs a bit hot (could be the after-market exhaust plus simply summer temps. Just seems hot to me.

The file map the guys at DYNO gave me is available. Feel free to ask if you'd like it email to you.

Again - map for 2013 CB1100 with Yoshimura full exhaust and K&N filter.

Any tips riders might have to dial this in better - or suggestions to reduce decal popping are appreciated.

I'll post updates as I have them.

I'd say the maps they provide are not ideal.

I'm not a tuner, and have only had my power commander (and autotune add-on) for a short time period- but I can tell you 2 things-

#1- even running their 'map' the auto tune made substantial changes once installed.

#2- if you look at what they are actually providing, ignore the trim table and look at the target table- they didn't do any real tuning or thought process whatsoever. Every file they provide for this bike just throws 13.2 at the entire table except for what they consider cruise range. That is not tuning- that is 'safe and good enough'.

On this bike our cruise area is lower RPM than what they picked (they start at 3500rpm!). They must be used to sport bikes.

And finally- they have a file for the '13 and a file for the '14- pretty much the same engine, and same blanket 13.2 target- but the trims on each are different.

I would *highly* suggest to people to get the auto tune box, or a real tune done on your bike live.

As for your popping- did you block the pair valve?

Hey Josh (Powerdubs) -
Thanks a ton for the run down on maps/tuning. I was suspecting it was pretty off the shelf map. I'd love to get the auto-tune - just another pretty good chunk of change. Some day.

I'll do looking into the map inself - might be able to tweak a bit.

Appreciate the feedback,
-Mike

Biggest hurdle in the autotune is actually that you have to have a new bung welded into the exhaust to fit the WBO2 sensor.

Blocking the PAIR valve solved the popping I had with the full Yosh on my '13, as PowerDubs mentioned. Been running it like that for almost two years.

I took a picture of how mine is blocked since I had the bike apart.

Real easy, just used a vacuum cap plug, popped the hose off the solenoid at the front of the engine, inserted the cap, put hose back on.

I just removed the hose from the front of the airbox, stuck a marble in it and put it back on. I may have had to lift the tank a bit for access, as I recall.

Thanks for the tip. I've heard of this procedure. The pics and run down help. I'll give it a try.
