Well just ordered sprocket and chain guide plate. I’ll follow up with my impressions, thanks for your help.

Good luck with the project. It's probably the best bang for the buck you can get.

One suggestion. When you are taking off the sprocket nut, before you loosen the chain, you should put it in gear and stand on the rear brake to hold it from turning.

Well here is my update on the PBI 19 tooth sprocket install. I ordered the chain guide from Partsfish the same time I ordered the sprocket. The sprocket arrived in 2 days and iam still waitlng on the guide 5 days. I decided to do the install anyways. With Peterbaron’s and Pekingduck’s instruction ,all went well. I machined the old chain guide with a Drexel tool. This is the way to go grind a little ,try fitment , grind again etc. I can’t be more pleased with the outcome,more relaxed engine. Should have done this sooner. Also thanks for the info on here, I am not a wrencher, but this mod was doable.

Ok guys : Put some miles on the bike with the 19 tooth front sprocket , was getting 55 mpg now 65 mpg , this is a very easy and cheap mod. Should have done this much early.

obleo I am curious, you ordered a chain guide. is there a guide made with clearance for the 19 sprocket that doesn't have to be ground for clearance? if so, could you please post a link to it?

The guides are different between 2013 and later years, not sure why, but may not interchange. Guides are less than $10. Some people have used the guide without grinding it away, but clearance is less, and the chain does move off the front sprocket a bit, so it may end up self-clearancing by rubbing - or it may be just fine.

I ordered the chain guide just as a precaution, in case I goofed up on the grinding of the original . Due to late shipping of the guide went ahead without it. Took my time and used a dremel and trial and fit each time I made a pass. Finally got good clearance, and didn’t screw up the guide. I am very happy with the results.
