The shift drum and switch are actually from a different bike. The CB1100 is a bit different but works the same. Note that the roll pin is offset in the shaft to be sure it isn't installed 180 degrees out.

Thanks GO. It turned out much better than last year, when a forum member asked about pictures of a spleen. Well, it turned out his SpellCheck changed it from spline, but I'm almost fully recovered now.
