Yeah, in light of Tev's comment, that is why I mentioned the stop/kill switch wiring as it passes through the head stock area.
When one sits on a bike, most likely the handlebars will move in some fashion. Maybe the associated wire got strained and broke recently? I don't know. What I do know is it happened to me once and it was a hard problem to solve. However, sure enough, it was an open connection in the wiring mass going into the headlight and would make or break each time I turned the handlebars, sometimes just a wee bit.
