I have a 2014 EX with spoke wheels that require tube tires normally, but since I can no longer find any such tires here in Switzerland I switched to Metzeler Z8,which is a tubeless tire, and had tubes put in place. I have not experienced any issue with this set up, and am on my second set like this now. In total I have done over 20'000 km like this now.
This does seem to me to be the simpler and cheaper option as opposed to installing a sealing kit.
Your observations are interesting, Henrik. Two comments, both without a lot of personal experience, so take it with a grain of salt. The rim sealing is offered from a company in Italy for about 400, plus shipping. Doesn’t sound too bad to me. Tube tires are said to loose pressure much more rapidly when sth cuts through the tube, if true (and I can see the logic), safety is a concern.
