So can I have comments from those with experience on spoked rims please
- what 'tube' tires have you used and comments
- have you used a tubeless tire with a tube in it and if so make model etc and outcomes?
- any negatives from using a tubeless tire with a tube in it?
Apologies if this is a repeat , I have streamed through the subject on here but mostly it seems to be applicable to bikes with Alloy wheels and tubeless tires.

It may be, Roger, that most people on the forum who have gone with tubeless tyres on their spoked wheels have installed a sealing kit so they don’t need to use tubes. Aussieflyer, a Canadian member—maybe Alain Lee—spring to mind, one other in the US, but I can’t remember who and Tev62 in Ireland.

I have a 2014 EX with spoke wheels that require tube tires normally, but since I can no longer find any such tires here in Switzerland I switched to Metzeler Z8,which is a tubeless tire, and had tubes put in place. I have not experienced any issue with this set up, and am on my second set like this now. In total I have done over 20'000 km like this now.
This does seem to me to be the simpler and cheaper option as opposed to installing a sealing kit.

I don't think there are any tube-only tires made for larger, modern street bikes any more. A tubeless tire is always safer than a tube-specific tire. Even if your rim doesn't have the raised safety beads, they are designed to fit more snugly on the rim.
The EX rims have the safety beads, so if air leaks out, the tire stays put. Many wire-spoked rims don't have them, and most older cast wheels don't either.
There's no drawback to using a tubeless tire.

I have tubeless tires on one of my bikes with spoke rims, with tubes inside. No issues.

I'm on Bridgestone T31's with spoked wheels sealed by BartFactory as mentioned elsewhere, very happy with the results. But I did specifically contact Bridgestone to ask if the T31 was suitable for use with my inner tubes too and they were fine with that. I did want to try the Metzeler Z8 as they get a good write up on this forum but couldn't find them here in Ireland. The tyre profile must be very different to the OEM as the T31's have the bike turning in very quickly, in a good way.
