Looks to me as if chains and lube oil isn’t exactly an area where there is a chance that experimenting could do you much good. Compared to the “proper” oil ...
- you could find inadequate oil, but when you “learn” (chain worn) it’s too late,
- you could find cheaper oil, but how much money does that save per mile ?
- you could find bigger containers, but what use if you travel far from home ?
When you consider odds and ends, an oil that sticks a long time, and doesn’t end up in all sorts of places (wheels, hands, exhaust etc) is worth quite a bit of a higher price.
The last quality oil I bought, I put on 700 miles ago - with quite some rain in between. The chain is still well lubed, and no oil seen or found in other places. The can seems to last at least 10x the action, brings down the price per “turn” to under 1$. If it’s that available in Kazach country that’s of course a whole ‘other issue.
