Yeah, like Ferret and Hiker said it's the somewhat hidden tab behind the helmet lock. When I asked where the owners manual was, the salesman at the dealer that sold me the bike told me it was "behind the left side cover". You know, the one with the hex bolts. So I get it home and I'm thinking that didn't make sense, so I Googled it to get the answer.
So the book that will tell you where look for the way to open the seat is locked under the seat!
