I have a stock handlebar off the bike. I don't think there is any blockage in the bar but I'll check it out when I get home tonight and let you know. It's possible that when you took the bar weights out you pulled them out of the inner rubber rings. Mine came off when I took those bar weights off and I had to fish them out with a coat hanger. That was probably your blockage. And if they are pulled out those weights are not dampening vibration like they should. Did you take a picture of your weights when they were out?

Chip

Thanks for the info, Chip - but I linked back to the Bar replacement thread (yours?) with good photos. I did get the inner rubber mounts out. One came out as it should, with the inner weight; and the other didn't - and was easily retrieved with a wire.

You could look or try to judge: is there an inner sleeve set inside over the place where the brackets clamp down? Because the amount of shot that went in was almost negligible.

Just,

Yeah that thread is mine. I took my stock CB11 handlebars and rolled a marble that is just smaller than the opening right through them. Those bars are hollow without any restrictions in there at all. I slid some short batteries through them as well. I reload shotgun shells so I poured a ton of #8 shot into the bars from one end with the holes taped over on the other end. That bar holds a lot of lead shot (several pounds). I don't know why you couldn't get much in there. If you lay your bike on its side and take the weight out of the top end you should be able to pour a lot of shot in there.

Wow.

You DID go to some trouble. I'm obliged.

I've figured out what to do: Since I've gotten it to bearable at this point, I'm gonna leave it be for the season. Come fall, when I lay it up...along with other mods, I'll take the bars off. I don't like to rip into clean, new stuff...I have a heavy hand; I tend to break, strip, bung-up things somehow. Hate to trash new stuff.

But come fall, I'll get the bars off. I don't have padding/blocking to lay the entire cycle down without probably damaging things...I'm still amazed that I didn't tear it up more when I dropped it two weeks ago.

So, I have something to do on those cold autumn evenings...too cold to ride but not snowy yet. Wire in a headlight relay and pop off the bars.
