That is fine to see if it will run better, but if you want to leave it permanently in that configuration it is a good idea to actually remove the sensor. Otherwise it can eventually foul up and be ruined if you ever wanted to reuse it again (kinda expensive part). This is a bit more work as it entails dropping the header so you can get at it, then you also need a special tool to remove it and replace with a plug.
