The parts fish shows the left spacer as being smaller (no 4 in the diagram) BUT the left spacer is more expensive so it should be bigger. I have the workshop manual and it shows (I think) that the larger spacer on the RHS.
Anyway I have tried both ways and the larger spacer is on the right, for sure.
What confused me the first time was that I did not follow the sequence and I torqued the left side pinch bolts before setting the axle and that is why the brake calliper would not go on. (what use is a manual if you don't follow the instructions?)
So now I am good at removing and installing the front wheel.
There is also a 2.8mm differnce in the spacing between the wheel rim and the forks from side to side.
