Could somebody please confirm for me the L R orientation of the wheel spacers. On the rear wheel the larger spacer goes to the left (sitting on the bike).
On the front the larger spacer goes to the right.
The results of a search show this to be the case but installing the large one on the right on the front wheel does not allow the left side brake caliper to fit onto its disc. So I am confused.
Or should both large spacers go to the left or do I just force the caliper into place?
My bike is a 2010.

Tezza, from memory I think the larger spacer goes to the right. Install the spacers and check:
1. The wheel turns freely.
2. The wheel is centred exactly between the forks. That is equidistant from the forks.
If the collars (spacers) are installed arse about face then the wheel will not turn freely and will bind on the right fork. Also when you look at the wheel from the front it will not be equidistant from the inside edge of the forks. The calipers should fit easily if the collars are installed correctly. That is unless you are not fixing the caliper correctly.

The parts fish shows the left spacer as being smaller (no 4 in the diagram) BUT the left spacer is more expensive so it should be bigger. I have the workshop manual and it shows (I think) that the larger spacer on the RHS.
Anyway I have tried both ways and the larger spacer is on the right, for sure.
What confused me the first time was that I did not follow the sequence and I torqued the left side pinch bolts before setting the axle and that is why the brake calliper would not go on. (what use is a manual if you don't follow the instructions?)
So now I am good at removing and installing the front wheel.
There is also a 2.8mm differnce in the spacing between the wheel rim and the forks from side to side.
