Jedd, someone stuck a K&N filter on my bike at a major service. It happened just after davidargee's post about his drama. I was inclined to trust that all would be well until I was with Pterodactyl when his K&N filter failed. I rode a good few kms before changing mine out, but when I realised I was going to be on my own in some out-of-the-way places decided not to take the risk. I put on a HiFlow filter. So far it's been fine, but I'm about to change the oil and replace it with an OEM filter.
If you're riding locally and keep a good eye on things, I wouldn't worry too much; if you're off travelling, I'd change it.
