I live in L.A. and got mine in Sacramento. It was not easy to locate one, but the 400 mile ride home was fun, thunder showers and all!
Good luck. Your best bet is probably a slightly used one.

Never mind what I said about G-force Powersports in Boulder. I went by there the other day to take a closer look at the "Deluxe" that they had in stock. Black. 4 into 1 exhaust. Smooth seat. What they have marked as a Deluxe is just a 2014 Standard. I tried to point this out to them, but they weren't hearing it. Bike also had a $10,330 price on it, so they are asking almost full MSRP for what appears to be a standard model.
Not only does Honda not know how to market the CB1100, their dealerships can't even figure out how to tell the difference between the models. Sorry for the confusion, I was in there to pick up some parts and just happened to glance at the tag in passing...

They know people are searching for Deluxe's. They can't sell the standards at list, so they are trying to convince unsuspecting customers they have a deluxe. These are the type dealers one would be advised to run from as fast as you can.

I plan on stopping by the dealership I mentioned every Thursday to regale them with a list of reasons why theirs is not a DLX
Can you tell a deluxe by the VIN number? (11-02-2015, 12:09 PM)capttwb136_imp Wrote:(11-01-2015, 03:33 PM)Elipten_imp Wrote: Same issue with a dealer here in Texas. Have a black std marked as as DLX. One on the right = Std. One on each side = Deluxe. There are a number of other "obvious" differences ('14 Std = black, Deluxe = red). Check out the letters and numbers at positions 4-5-6-7-8. If they're 'SC651', it's a standard model; if they're 'SC658' it's a DLX.
