So, recently I have noticed kind of a clink or pinging sound when I have the throttle open a bit, accelerating around 60 mph in 4th gear. Reminds me a little of a clinking sound that an oil-filled radiator heater makes.
Not super reproducible but it's happened two or three times for sure. Sometimes the wind and traffic noise around me on the expressway or freeway is loud enough that I wouldn't be able to hear it anyway.
It definitely happens in conjunction with that rapid clicking sound of the fuel injector system that we've talked about before.
I just got the valves done so I don't think it should be them, and I took a look at the outer spark plugs and they look very clean (didn't look at the inner ones since that may require me to take the tank off).
Riding around the twisties and keeping it under 4k RPM (maybe 5 in a long straightaway), everything is smooth and peachy.
Should I see if I can get it checked out under warranty, or is it likely not a big deal?

It could a dose of poor quality or low octane fuel causing some detonation or pinging. This sounds like what you are describing.
Drain the tank and refill with new fuel to eliminate that possibility.

Yeah, I read something similar on some other forums like Honda ST or CBR... I have just been using 87 Octane and filling up wherever is convenient. Some of the cheaper places (Arco, or the local hole-in-the-wall joints) may have comparatively crummy fuel.
I tend to do 1.6 or 2 gallons at a time, I guess it doesn't hurt to pay the extra ten cents for the next grade up?

87 sounds too low for a modern performance engine and could definitely be a problem if you get some old or bad fuel.
My mechanic recommends 95 for the CB. Our 91 octane (without Ethanol) however has not caused any problems for me when I cant find it in the country.
A few cents more wont break the bank or the bike.

Hmm, well the US manual says 86 or higher I think.. some people use 87, some use higher. It has been pretty hot here lately which could be contributing.
I guess our 87 is about equivalent to what they call 91 for you.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I run my bike on 91 RON fuel and it goes along just fine.

How's the chain looking? Could it need an adjustment?

Hmm, maybe I could look at that. I had it done about a thousand miles ago, and I usually clean and lube it myself every few rides. Didn't really check the slack last time though.
I didn't think it sounded like a chain thing, but it could be.
