Help! Dynojet PC V Install Not Going Well, 2014 CB
#1

Apologies if I've missed relevant threads, but I've searched and people seem to have had no issues with the PC V install. And the Dynojet video makes it look easier than two sips of G&T.

1) I really struggled to remove the "quick" release connector on the fuel tank. Also, I didn't realize that a couple of parts on the quick-release valve, once removed, need to be replaced. Is that an overabundance of caution in the service manual (as with the oil drain plug bolt) and I should be okay reusing the clamp and rubber washer? (I know they're not expensive, but another wait, which may be moot because of point 2, below.)

2) I just cannot find the room to route the PC V harness alongside the current wiring. The stock loom is so thick that I can't squeeze the PC V connectors under the left side frame to be able to run it along the fuel tank. I can't move the loom enough in any direction. Would I need to loosen the air filter box? It can't be easy nor recommended to remove the PC V connectors to route the harness?

It’s been a while since I did that but I would remove or loosen whatever parts you need in order to route the wiring. I definitely never had to or considered removing the connectors from the wires. I think I found a tight spot to squeeze the connector throwing. Once it’s through the frame it’s easy to move the wires to a better suited location from where the connector fit if that makes sense. Patience and a little persuasion is all I used.

I know what you mean about that fuel disconnect.. I will stay away from doing that again for as long as I can.. here is a pic of my 2017 quick disconnect and how I re-installed it.. yours may be different.. but make sure you do it right.. there was a posting of one coming loose after it was re-installed..gas all over !! .. mine has 2 plastic clips that hold the connector on.. I used a plastic wire tie, folded over to "jam" if you will, onto the top of one of the plastic clips.. the plastic clip cannot yield and allow the connector to come apart unless that wire tie is removed first.. I'm not sure as to how cheap a new connector would be, referring to the parts you are supposed to replace on your 2014..

Thanks chnyc! Knowing that I didn't have other options helped me figure this out! The airbox needed to be loosened, and just a few mm of give was enough to get the connector started on its journey. The loom had more play than I first thought--I needed to be less delicate about the whole thing!

Chuckk, though the 2014 connector looks different, your photo helped me understand what that rubber ring is doing--thanks! I have the PC V connected now... am giving it a day before getting back to the tank.

Looking forward to it--I have a K&N filter to install as well. No doubt I'll find a way to make a meal of that as well.
