I was going to hijack mechanics thread about highway foot pegs but figured this deserved it's own discussion.

I've been looking at frame sliders because I want some protection but don't want to spoil the looks and I came across these Sato sliders. My question is does anyone have any experience with them and also it kind of looks like they could double as foot pegs, am I wrong?

I have them and no they won’t work as footpegs. Too slippery and too close to the engine. But I have thought about finding a way to mount some folding highway pegs to the same mount point.

Actually I have a similar but not exact model. The ones you reference look like they stick out a little further but I think the same situation applies.

Agree with Chync. I have the Babyface and they do not work as pegs either. Too short, too slippery. I can rest my heal on them, for short periods, but that's it.

Thanks guys! How do you like them as sliders? Hopefully you haven't had to "use" them but do you feel they're up to the task?

I’m hoping I never find out and if that comes to pass I will continue to love them :-)

Honestly I think it’s a crap shoot as to what will happen in a low side. I have watched as many videos as I could find of real accidents with sliders and my conclusion was that the unique nature of any accident means there is no way to predict the outcome. But for the accidents where the bike truly just slides I’m expecting less damage than without. I wish there were better engine case sliders available for this bike. I found 1 vendor but I didn’t care for how they looked.
