Removing reflectors from fork sliders
#1

Ok, I've decided that I want to loose the big reflectors from the lower fork sliders. Th possibility of marring my front legs sends chills down my spine so I want the safest way possible.Angel

When I converted my old Beemer K75 from low seat to high seat I had to remove appliques from the tank and used fishing line line a band saw blade and worked them off. Any idea on if this will work as well on the metal legs?
I know WD40 will clean it up but I want to remove them w/o damage to either the legs or the reflectors.

Just warm them up using a heat gun and they will peel off. Do not over heat them as they are only plastic. Then clean up the left over glue/gum residue any way you know how ... eucalyptus oil works really well for removing glue/gum.

Even a hair dryer will work......then just pull with hands, no tools. I parked in the sun one day and one side fell off by itself.

I used a heat gun to warm them up, then take fishing line, or dental floss, and slide down behind them. After that, heat the remaining adhesive up a little bit, pull the rest off and finish with adhesive remover.

I removed mine last week. Used a hair blow dryer to warm it up a little for one minute. Removed reflectors by hand, they come off leaving the sticky tape behind. Then pulled the double sided tape by hand. No residue or gunk was left behind. They came off clean.

Great, the old heat gun will work on these, too. That was how I got the decals off the tank.

I just pulled mine off, no heat or tools. Very little residue left on the fork that a little rubbing alcohol took right off.

I deflected the day i got it and they just pulled right off no residue. Hair drier works good too. If you use a heat gun just make sure its on low.

I also just grabbed them and pulled them off. No heat gun. The double sided sticky tape that holds them on isn't real strong. They came off clean and there is not a mark on the fork legs.
