  Oil Level Sight Glass Question
Posted by: olekzap_imp - 07-01-2016, 02:25 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (9)

Quick question about the oil level in the sight glass.

I had it changed at the dealership a couple days ago and noticed that when it's leaning on the sidestand there is none visible in the viewer. If I put it on the centerstand it will eventually fill up to about 3/4 of the way to the top line, but this didn't happen until I shut the engine off and let it sit. Will the engine running or not change the level in the glass? My thought is that it shouldn't show up as full as not running if it's all being circulated around the moving parts and doing its job, is that correct?

I believe this indicates that the level is fine, can anyone with more knowledge confirm for me so I can either stop worrying about it or get some oil and top it off?

I apologize if this has been covered already. I read through some old oil threads and didn't see anything about it.

  LED headlight
Posted by: regularworkingdad_imp - 06-30-2016, 12:26 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (5)

I saw on Hondapro Kevin website, that he had inside industry pics of a possible CB1100 prototype for other countries markets. The interesting thing was that it had a nice LED headlight. That would be a nice upgrade I would like to make. Maybe if that bike comes to fruition, Honda will offer that as an available as an accessory. Has anyone seen a nice aftermarket LED headlight out there that would work on the CB?

  Mulling This One Over

I took a look at this new 2014 standard today. The price is very good and I was impressed with the blackness. It looked like a big chunk of black onyx, very impressive! The Deluxe is very cool, but this appeals to me in a number of ways not just my wallet. The biggest drawback is no ABS.

  Turn Signal Relay
Posted by: fourfever_imp - 06-30-2016, 03:50 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

Sorry for my question, but I live in Germany and do not know the technical details of the US models. I am driving the CB1100EX SC65.
I am looking for a turn signal relay which has an automatic signal/flash stop after 20 or 30 seconds. Which kind of relays are used for the US models?
If in US such a turn signal relay is used it would be great to get the partnumber.

Greetings from Germany
Rainer

Does anyone remember the HONDA HOOT?
Posted by: regularworkingdad_imp - 06-30-2016, 03:28 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (9)

I was talking about the Honda Hoot events that Honda used to put on for its owners in the early 2000's, on my CB page on FB earlier. I attended in 03 and 04 on my 1100 Shadow Sabre that I had then. It was held in Knoxville TN those years. It really was a nice weekend event. Lots of vendors, Demo rides, organized rides, even a ride to dinner destination at a nearby colonial settlement type place. It was close to the Dragon (deals gap) so there was lots to do and see. I was just curious if anyone on here attended that as well? It would be nice if Honda would do something similar in the future, Those kind of things go along building brand loyalty, etc
This was a pic taken at Deals Gap during the Honda Hoot.

  SO THERES A GUY WITH a '83 V45 and an '85 V45...
Posted by: 0011bc_imp - 06-29-2016, 10:49 PM - Forum: Other Bikes - Replies (15)

Both in decent original condition, around 30k miles but he is asking way too much i think...4500 for the 83 which is pretty clean, dent in tank, minor cosmetics - bubbling on the crank case - could be buffed...and 1000 for the 85 with no title (would cost about 700 to get a bonded title)

Any ideas on how to bring him back to reality without being insulting??

Kelley says 1700 for excellent on the 83, Nada Says 3700 for excellent....

Im going to ride my CB back over there today and maybe it will let down his guard that I am a true Honda enthusiast. I'll get pics later.

  Cycle Shell Storage
Posted by: Krupator_imp - 06-29-2016, 10:38 PM - Forum: Motorcycling - General - Replies (16)

Has anyone used the cycle shell to store their CB1100? I'm thinking about getting one as the garage I use to store mine will be unavailable to me in the near future. I need something that protects it from the elements during the spring, summer and fall in Pennsylvania.

I'd rather not rent storage space for several reasons. I'll have a garage to put it in for the winter, but it's too far away from my residence to store it during the riding season.
