It's a photo of the first motorcycle I bought. It is a 1968 Kawasaki, 175, Bushwacker. It was a 2 stroke and I loved it! The tank pads remind me of some I've seen here, mounted on the Cb1100. I still love the look.

It was my main transportation while going to college in Phoenix. It went everywhere, including long rides out into the desert. No roads, no trails, and no fences. Loved it.

Check out the grips! I just ordered a set for my CB, thanks to this forum for making me aware of their availability.

Anyone else have a first bike they'd like to share? Love to hear about them.

Recently I was travelling abroad and was feeling the need of a good dollop of CB1100 love. Just when things were getting really grim, I came upon this sign.


Although there was a mistake in the description (the Ferret I know needs constant access to tea) I hoped my friend would be around to show me the mighty DLX and maybe take me for a ride.

I peered over the fence and saw evidence of life.


There were plenty of those wee Ferret biscuits. There was no sign of tea. Nor, when I looked could I see the CB1100 or the ST1300. There was a gadget whereby a vertically challenged chap like me could climb aboard a large motorcycle.


I rang the bell and banged on the door; but I never did see the Ferret. Or his bikes.

I just installed the Dart Flyscreen (darkest version) on my 2014 standard. I love the look of it. I'm hoping it actually works to divert a little of the air that hits my chest at speed. Even if it doesn't, I'm vain and shallow enough to keep it on just for the look of it. I think it adds nice balance to the front, now that I have the hard bags on the rear. You'll have to trusts me on that for now. I'll try to get out this weekend and snap a few shots and report back on my impressions of the screen's effectiveness.

So...what next? I'm coming up on needing new tires but don't consider that a modification/accessory. Is it possible that I have my CB exactly how I want it? That seems out of the question. But there's nothing that I'm longing for at this point. I guess I'm just going to have to ride more, shop less!

hi all, anyone know if the motogadget gauges are compatible with a CB1100? I am trying to slim down the stock gauges of the bike and came across these nice but expensive instruments!!! thx for the feedback fellas!

hi all,
new to this forum and really looking forward to getting some good advice. I thinking of installing some clip ons on my CB1100. Anyone have some suggestions on some models and any other suggestions? here is a pic of my bike.

Yesterday, I rode up to Jeffersonville, Ohio to meet my buddy Jnor. He is a good friend and travelling companion who I ridden with to California on one trip, to North Carolina on another trip, to Virginia and West Virginia on another trip, and he will again be joining us for the Men's Fall Trip this year in south eastern Ohio. We have owned a similar number of similar bikes, ride a similar pace and are similar enough to get along but different enough to drive each other crazy. Jnor has given up riding a couple times in the past couple of years, once right after we got back from Cali which I documented on this forum.

At any rate he is back riding again. Picked up yet another Kawasaki Versys (his 3rd..or 4th?) a new 2016. He has modified it to suit him with Givi luggage, heated grips, larger handguards, GPS etc and I wanted to get a look at it, and discuss routes for the MFT ride this year, so we decided to meet for lunch 1/2 way between our residences..

Anyhow on the way up I was reminded once again why I am not tough enough to ride a Harley. Passed this guy in riding attire typical of my area. Note: it was 68 degrees out.

I was a bit chilled in full gear lol. At any rate, an hour and a half later met up with Jnor early, as we both usually are, and did a walk around of his bike. Very nice looking motorcycle. I had ridden to Clinton Co Motorsports in Xenia Ohio a few weeks back to look at one of these as it was in consideration for a replacement for my ST someday as a lighter solo sport tourer when my wife decides she's had enough, but when I tried sitting on it, it was WAY too tall for me. Anyhow after the walk around, we went inside had lunch (burger and fries for him and a short stack of buttermilk pancakes for me) and when we came back out I mentioned how his bike looked lower than the one at CCM and could I try sitting on it? Sure. I climbed on and was able to get both toes on the ground. Huh? In the showroom at Clinton County I could get 1 toe down but the other hung precariously in the air. Jnor said he had dropped the tubes in the trees 1/2" and had cut some of the foam from the seat, and that was pretty close to enough for me. Could I test ride it? Sure he said, let's go.

So we took off across St Rt 41 towards Washington Court House. Right away I noticed the comfortable ergos. It really is a tall and comfortable perch with sit up and beg ergos. The hand guards worked well, the windshield worked well, mirrors were usable and clear of vibration, transmission shifted well (not as good as the CB imo). The bike was noticeably smoother than his last Versys and it felt really light. The bike really did have plenty of power (as he keeps telling me) but I did miss the abundant torque of the ST. I am such a sucker for liter bike torque. I noticed at 55 mph he was turning over 4000 rpms (which would be 2500 rpms on the ST) even though he said it was geared up a tooth in front. While riding I became very confused. I could ride a bike like this solo, and thoroughly enjoy myself, although honestly I'd hate to give up the big torque and low rpms of the ST. I may have to change my preferences. At Washington CH we traded back, said our goodbyes and he headed north on ST RT 22 while I turned south on the same road. In a couple of weeks I am going to get the opportunity to ride another 650 Suzuki SV, this bike, and maybe the ST (or CB) side by side. Haven't decided which bike to take on the Men's Fall Trip this year. Should be interesting.

Perdido Key's state park can barely be seen "the white sand on the horizon " good place to swim, fish and camp , very laid back Southern Living. other photo's are of Perdido Key Fl and Orange Beach Alabama.
I live only a few miles from Alabama. The Red Ship is at the Port of Pensacola and I have 5 Lbs of just caught Shrimp on my bike bought for $12 .
My Helmet is "Crash Dummy" decorated seen beside a nice batch of Frog Legs , mushrooms , fish and chicken liver = Ummm , much better than chicken

I have been using the Lucas sport taillight that many of you have too, but have always been looking for the perfect small retro taillight. While visiting my local dealer I noticed Yamaha's SR400 retro thumper bike and really liked it's taillight. Well $150 later, here I am posting my conversion to this unit. I think it turned out pretty well, but you be the judge! Is this taillight a good replacement?

Note: The top hole in the fender was still visible after installing the new taillight, so I cut off a section of my old Lucas taillight and used it to blend in over the hole.
