Need advice on clip ons - domenaxe_imp - 09-02-2016

hi all,
new to this forum and really looking forward to getting some good advice. I thinking of installing some clip ons on my CB1100. Anyone have some suggestions on some models and any other suggestions? here is a pic of my bike.

Good night what a beautiful place to take a picture. Can't help you with the clip ons question. I couldn't handle clip ons 40 years ago, however several people on the forum have put clip ons on their bikes.

Welcome domenaxe! Lovely shot in a beautiful place. Sorry but I can't help with the clip ons either. You could start here: http://cb1100forum.com/forum/search.php?action=results&sid=bb4985b1c64463c6c1a5f51913691694&sortby=lastpost&order=desc

Is the purpose of clip-ons to increase your forward lean angle or just to look non-retro?

A bit of both...I am trying to get a more brat style look and I feel the front end of the bike still needs some work. Open to any suggestions.

Yes, clip-ons increase forward lean angle, but they are actually pretty retro, as they were popular on cafe racers since the late 50s and early 60s.

Woodcraft 41mm clip-ons with a 1.5 inch rise. There isn't really any way to do clip-ons on these bikes without them hitting the tank. That said, it's still probably my favourite mod on the bike.

Domenaxe, you might want to look at getting clubman bars instead. Honda Geneva did up their Dark Racer with those, and if you check around in your place I am sure you can find a Honda garage to help find the details.

Samurider offers 2 different clip on sets, (called 'separate handlebars') both with enough rise to clear the tank, apparently. I considered them, as I prefer a forward lean and the resulting additional weight on the front, but went with the Honda Type 2 bars instead. Here's a link to the clip ons: http://www.samurider.com/?p=14513

Thx all for the input. Still unsure about the clip on. What do you think if I take my rizoma handle bar and flip it upside down? Something like the handlebar on the bmw.
