Yearly Goal met, and re-set

Well, ferret, that's a lot of miles any way you count 'em! Glad you have two well chosen bikes to select from which both suit you so well. Good on ya for the safe and frequent riding and thanks for sharing the goodness with us.

Thanks Rolls. Rode the CB today. Another wonderful ride. What a great bike. After riding the ST all week it was like riding a super-moto lol, so light and flickable. 44 more miles on the odo.

Ok, you've inspired me. I'm gonna sneak away from my boring paperwork responsibilities for an hour and sneak in a ride while the sun's still shining. Up 'til today it's been a rainy holiday weekend around here.

I was going to skip riding today. Glad I didn't. A quick run up the hill to Alice's, back down and over to Costco (milk for the kids), here and there and now my trusty CB is 82 miles older and I'm that much happier. And I clicked over 32,000 miles, to boot.

I sure like reading about these higher-mileage examples. I just can't think of a more reliable motorcycle I've owned overall. I would ride this bike across the continent without a second thought, other than the battery it has never even hiccuped.

There is a lot to be said for a large, very understressed engine. The bike is so smooth now with the bar mods, I'd consider a different (more comfy) seat and some more luggage and rack up a mile or two (thousand). Stock seat is fine for everyday but on the long hauls I'd want some more support.

I turned over 23,019 miles for the year on todays ride. Started sprinkling on the way home so dodged a bullet considering they were calling for 80% rain from 9:45 this morning until this evening.

Less than 500 miles to go before I have to raise the bar again.

I'm impressed and intrigued by your success at meeting and exceeding your goals, however not intrigued enough to get out a calendar and then review your for the last month, so.... how are you doing on this other goal you mentioned?

With 49 days left in the year I need to ride 34 of them to meet my other goal of 308 days ridden in the year which the Aerostitch catalog says is possible for this area.

well Sea, today was day number 290 riding...so I need 18 out of the next 33 days to meet the 308 goal

I have only missed 3 days of riding since March 14 with this caveat. * I was out of town on vaca with my wife twice and couldn't ride (although if I had been home, trust me I would have lol). May 14-21 we flew to Sanibel Is, Fla to celebrate our 42 anniversary and my 66th birthday so I missed 8 days of riding then.... and June 27-30 she rented a cabin in se Ohio for a family vaca with our children, their spouses and our grand children and I missed 4 days of riding then.

In Jan I rode 18 of 31 days,
Feb 18 of 29
March 26 of 31
April 28 of 30
May 23 of 31*
June 26 of 30*
July 31 of 31
Aug 31 of 31
Sept 30 of 30
Oct 31 of 31
Nov as of today 28 of 28 (should have no prob getting 30 of 30 for Nov.)
In Dec I will need to ride 16 of 31 to make 308

and if I get a ride in Thursday I believe that will make it 10 years in a row that I will have ridden all 12 months of the year, or 120 months in a row. It may be more but I didn't keep track before 2006.

My wife says I am like a junkie that needs a daily fix lol

November is in the books... rode 30 of 30 days.....

Nov 30th, day riding number 292, put 74 miles on the ST for 1983 miles for the month and 23,212 miles for the year so far.

need 16 of the next 31 to make the 308 days riding goal and only 288 miles to make the 23,500 goal..so might as well raise that right now. It's been 2 years since I put less than 1000 miles on in a month, so I'm raising the goal to 24,500

16 days and 1288 miles to go

C'mon..we can do this!

You go Mickey! Unfortunately, you can't measure the fun you bring to those of us who live vicariously through your exploits!

I'll ride a bunch more when/if retirement comes my way. But today, the work life requires too much measurement already. So, when that goes away, a hippie life awaits! Get up when you wake up, visit friends, do fun stuff, go interesting places, be there when ya get there, help out where you can, and go to bed when tired.

Ride on!

Sounds like a good plan DAC!

Good lord I need a new life! Mickey you are my hero! I work from home and fly all over for the other part of work. My truck a 2008 only has 42,000 miles and the two CBS less than 5,000 total. No time with work and a 14 year old son.

You have ridden 50% of what I have on my bikes and truck in one year!

Retirement in 4 yrs and 4 months and then I ride like a fiend!

Well done on achieving your goal for the year so far and then some.

My seat time this year has been what could be described as wobbly but thats ok, I'm enjoying it.

"you meet the nicest people on a Honda" ,PI MOTOGP.

All the best for the rest of 2016.

I'm glad most of it is in my mirror.

Regards from Down Under

Yeah ... my goal was to put on a few more kays than last year. Did that. And met a couple of new CB riders—noroomtomove and Aussie Flyer. Both great blokes.

A good year so far.

After reading another thread here, I think The Ferret should keep a log of how many deer he permanently keeps off the roads. It could look something like this:

Nov 30th: day riding number 292, 74 miles on the ST. Monthly Miles: 1983 miles 2016 Miles: 23,212 miles. Deer Taken: 1 (longbow) Monthly Deer Total: 3 (2 bow 1 rifle) Annual Deer Taken: ....well you get the idea. ;)

Lol think I will just post up mileage reports. Getting ready to take off for the first day of of the new month (December) ride. Not a pretty day by any measurement. Cold ( low 40s) cloudy, overcast, damp, gray, but at least no precip. There will be two rides today, now, and then this evening I am meeting my son and his fil and we are riding up for some dinner and then to the movies to see Dr Strange. Should be a few degrees above freezing when we get out of the theatre.
